Sebastian County Trail Park Project Gains Momentum

Chaffee Crossing continues to strengthen its reputation as a hub for outdoor recreation and quality-of-life amenities. Work is progressing on Sebastian County’s trail park project, bringing even more natural space and connectivity to the Fort Smith area. According to a recent report, county officials are continuing efforts to develop a premier natural environment for residents and visitors.

This project represents another important step forward in a long-standing regional commitment to trails, green space, and outdoor living—an effort in which Chaffee Crossing has played a central role. Through strategic partnerships with Sebastian County, the City of Fort Smith, ArcBest, and the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education, the Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority (FCRA) has helped shape and implement a comprehensive master trails plan that continues to benefit the entire community.

“To date there are well over 30 miles of trails within Chaffee Crossing and Ben Geren Park connecting thousands of new residents, workers, businesses, and other outdoor recreational opportunities,” said Daniel Mann, FCRA executive director and CEO.

These existing trails have become a defining feature of Chaffee Crossing. The expansion of Sebastian County’s trail park will build on that success, creating new connections that further enhance accessibility and encourage healthy, active lifestyles.

For residents, businesses, and developers, the continued investment in outdoor infrastructure adds significant value. Access to trails and green space has become a key factor for those choosing where to live, work, and invest. Chaffee Crossing’s ongoing leadership in this area reinforces its position as one of the most desirable and forward-thinking developments in the region.

As the Sebastian County project moves forward, it underscores a shared vision across western and northwest Arkansas: a connected network of trails and natural areas that not only preserves the region’s beauty but also supports long-term growth and community well-being.
